How to Enter the Laboratory
Unlocking Access
To enter the laboratory for the first time, you must progress through the Survivor's Path until you unlock a task led by Eva. This mission requires you to infiltrate the laboratory and clear zombies from the main floor, which permanently unlocks access to the location.
Important Note
Unlike some other games with laboratory access tasks that require specific items like "20 Jellopy Crystals", Brookhaven's laboratory access is tied to the Survivor's Path questline progression.
Initial Preparation
- Required Items: 2 iron axes for breaking through thorny barriers
- Quest Prerequisite: Complete Eva's laboratory infiltration task
- Recommended Level: Base level 60+ (similar to other game laboratory requirements)
- Team Consideration: Can be attempted solo but easier with a team
Laboratory Game Mechanics
Bio-Fill Tank System
Located next to the elevator on the first floor, the Bio-Fill Tank starts at level 1 and can be upgraded to level 3 (max in current version). Each upgrade unlocks an additional chip slot and an extra energy slot. Energy slots are consumed when selecting buffs on the second floor. Seaweed is the primary filling material.
Seaweed Farming
- Location: First floor, far right side
- Production: Energy battery + catalyst = 2 seaweed
- Usage: 8 seaweed fills one bio-fill tank slot
- Alternative Source: Watchtower (16 seaweed daily, respawns at 8 AM)
Chip Slot System
- Location: Next to bio-fill tank on first floor
- Slots: 1 initially, up to 3 with tank upgrades
- Function: Add buffs or block threats
- Strategy: Threat blocking provides more consistent benefits
- Locking: Chips lock after scanning on second floor
Chip Types & Effects
Threat Blockers
100% prevention of specific threats for the entire laboratory run. Recommended for consistent results.
Buff Enhancers
Increase probability of specific buffs appearing in selection. Most are randomly obtained.
Clean Sweep
One of the few non-random chips. Provides specific benefits for room clearing.
Giant Killer
Another non-random chip. Specialized for dealing with larger enemies and bosses.
Reputation & Rewards System
The laboratory uses a reputation system similar to the bunker, with three types of reputation items that primarily drop in hard mode.
Reputation Items
- Disk: 30 reputation points
- CD: 10 reputation points
- Work Badge: 5 reputation points
- Normal Mode Source: Only B2 boss drops one work badge
- Extra Drops: Pest chip generates 2 extra zombies in B1/B2 dropping CDs
Reputation Rewards
- Higher reputation increases chance of armor-piercing guns in A/B cards
- Hard A/B cards cannot give all armor-piercing guns
- Hard B card always contains one grenade launcher
- Ultimatum and Resonance guns unlock after reaching certain reputation with Ida
Trader Priorities
After first normal B2 completion, a permanent trader NPC appears. Trading priorities:
- Armor-piercing guns
- Reputation cards
- A/B cards or Hard A/B cards
- Revival items
- Catalysts
- Energy batteries
- Sewer reputation
- Seaweed
Laboratory Walkthrough
Initial Preparation
Bring 2 iron axes to clear thorny barriers on first entry. Ensure you have adequate weapons, healing items, and energy batteries for seaweed production.
First Floor Setup
Repair the seaweed farm on the right side. Gather seaweed from watchtower (16 daily at 8 AM) or produce using energy batteries + catalysts. Fill bio-fill tank with seaweed (8 per slot).
Chip Configuration
Insert chips into available slots. Recommended to prioritize threat-blocking chips for more consistent runs. Remember chips lock after scanning on second floor.
Second Floor Buff Selection
Proceed to second floor for buff selection. Each choice consumes one energy slot from bio-fill tank. Choose buffs that complement your playstyle and equipment.
Combat Areas (B1 & B2)
Clear B1 and B2 areas of enemies. Defeat B2 boss to obtain work badge (normal mode). In hard mode, collect additional reputation items for better rewards.
Trader Unlock & Strategy
After first normal B2 completion, the trader NPC becomes permanently available. Trade materials according to your current needs and priorities.
